Fit the BCD to You rather than You to the BCD

Innovative new Custom-Fit
element :: System

All BUDDY re::flex jackets - the Commando, Explorer and Tekwings - feature our unique adjustable backpack, harness and waistband system which allows fine-tune fitting between the standard sizes - offering for the first time ever, a tailored BCD with a precise comfort fit to your unique body shape

The A.P. design team borrowed heavily from contemporary outdoor pursuit rucksack design in achieving this custom fit capability which involves a simple
One-time Setup of just 3 adjustments:

1. element :: Backpack Adjustment

Tools required: 5mm Allen key

Fixed length backpacks make no allowance for the fact that people have different torso lengths and therefore for some people the pressure of the cylinder is exerted too high on the back, directly onto the spine, causing discomfort and possible back problems. The most ergonomic position is achieved by ensuring that the base of the backpack sits comfortably into the small of the back. The element :: allows this by offering up to 100mm extendable length with 6 adjustment increments within that to achieve a precise and comfortable fit. Once your ideal backpack length is found it can be permanently set by means of a single bolt, tightened with a 5mm Allen key

The element :: backpack has been developed utilising the latest detailed anthropometric research by the British Standards Institution. It is designed to offer a comfort fit for the full range of male and female body shapes and sizes from the 5th to the 95th percentile or 90% of the population

2. element:: Shoulder Strap Adjustment

Tools required: none

Simply un-thread the 50mm webbing from a 3-bar slider hidden beneath velcro flaps on the element ::harness shoulders to adjust the length of the shoulder strap to achieve optimum positioning of the side-release buckles

3. element :: Waistband Adjustment

Tools required: none

The most comfortable position for the waistband is to sit across the top of the hips but a conventional bcd waistband design takes no account of differing torso lengths.  The element :: harness waistband can be threaded in either a high or low position on the jacket body to achieve your ideal comfort fit
